A Shining Example

( Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved ) The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. is full of history, but it is far from boring. You will see everything that had anything to do with man's quest to fly and then to always fly higher and faster. Like this beautiful Howard Hughes H-1 Racer in which he set the air speed record of 352 mile per hour in 1935. Then in January of 1937 he flew from Los Angeles to Newark, New Jersey in only 7 hours and 28 minutes. So to me, this was not just another old airplane. I saw a powerful symbol of the human spirit to defy earth's gravity and change the world with ... A Shining Example.
