A ship of slaves in 1836 leaving Alexandria, Virginia on the Second Middle Passage. From 1810-1860, one million slaves from the Seaboard South (Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia) were shipped by traders on a long sea voyage to Gulf ports for resale in the Southern interior.
