Description:

It's another beautiful early winter morning, the fog has burned off and this hunter has been calling since day break. He been hearing these birds answer all morning long, so he positions himself for the best possible chance at the birds.The expectations are high because he knows this is a good spot, and as everyone who's ever been in the woods knows, these birds will show up out of nowhere. A confrontation is in the makes because the birds seem to always be competing for the same hen, gobbling and strutting. There's one bird though that seems to be trying to find the calling that's been coming from the hunter. Thus the "Sticky Situation"!. We hunters know that these birds have extremely keen eyesight and will flee at the slightest out of place movement or sound. Wich leaves a choice, do we wait for the birds to get in the right spot?, do we make a quick move before they move off?,or do we just sit back and watch the beauty of nature unfold before us. The hunt is not always about bagging the prey as much as it is about enjoying the outdoors for many of us. When i started on this painting ,i went down to an old pond that was covered in leaves, and along the ridge running beside this pond, there was an old hog farm that has long since been abandoned, the only remnants of this farm was the old tin fence that you can view in the painting. I thought this would be just perfect for what i wanted. As i look at the painting, i think to myself, this is definitely a place and scenario that most outdoorsman and hunters alike can relate to. Hopefully i've captured the feeling accordingly and anyone who views it will be able to say "wow this looks just like a place i went hunting,or a place i went camping at, or perhaps a place on my grandfathers farm". .
