A view of the exterior of the Chapel of Notre-Dame-du-Haut, Ronchamp, designed by Le Corbusier (Charles Edouard Jeanneret), 1950-1955. This was built to repla ce a chapel destroyed in 1944 and forms part of a series of units, including a caretaker's house, a hostel, a frame for bells and a stone-tiered pyramid comprising the wh ole. There are some who have called this a unique example of 20th-century scul pture. The chapel is made of concrete and lit by scattered rectangles of stain ed glass.
