Active Offshoot Of Conestoga Falls
Photograph - Photograph
Conestoga Falls in Ricketts Glen was running very fast and heavy on this beautiful early autumn day. This little offshoot had more rushing water than the main stem would usually have on a normal day. This temporary whitewater branch was located just a few feet to the left of the main waterfall.
The scene shown here was photographed from the muddy bank beside the Conestoga Falls plunge pool. The main waterfall was just to my right as I was shooting this image.
This image was captured on Columbus Day, Monday, October 11th, 2010.
Conestoga Falls is located on the Ganoga Glen Trail, just a bit upstream from Tuscarora Falls, not too far from the Waters Meet Point.
The photo was shot using a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was set to f/5.6 with a shutter speed of .3 second, at the 31mm focal length, ISO 100.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre.
