Painting - Water Color And Color Pencil On Illustration Board
I painted this portrait for a lady that seemed to be obsessed with Amelia Earhart. After talking with this lady and doing the research it took to complete this artwork, I also became a big fan of this amazing woman.
I was presented with four well worn books that had pages marked with the different pictures that she wanted me to combine for the final art.
Since the books were all black and white I had to combine four different photos from four different books and produce them in color.
I combined the face from one photo and the jacket from another. She wanted the scarf and the pin from other photos.
She also wanted the date July 2nd 1937 on the artwork. this was the date Amelia was reported missing.
Since the photos were black and white there was some guessing involved. The lady I did the artwork for couldn't have been more pleased. She took the artwork and had it framed. She told me she wanted to take the artwork to the birthplace museum in Atchison Kansas to see if they would display it there.
After that I moved away and have never seen the lady again. several years have gone by and only now do I realize how popular Amelia Earhart remains.
She was a strong inspiring woman. All I have is this image, I would love to hear from any fans of this amazing lady. I would also be happy to hear from any galleries that think there may be a market for this artwork
