Ammonia. Computer model of a molecule of ammonia(NH3). Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour coded nitrogen (blue) and hydrogen (white). Ammonia is a pungent-smelling colourless gas. It occurs naturally in gases from some geothermal springs. It is manufactured industrially using the Haber process and used in the manufacture of nitrogenous fertilisers, nylon, some explosives and plastics.
