Amputee sprinter. View of the legs of a sprinter before the start of the 100 metres race. Amputee athletes use special curved prosthetic 'blades' to assist running. This sprinter is a US marine wounded in combat. He is taking part in trials as part of the Wounded Warrior Regiment's Warrior Athlete Reconditioning Program. The participants compete to enter the Wounded Warrior Games, an annual sporting competition for service personnel who have sustained injury in the course of their duties.
