An African American Farmer Repays
Photograph - Photograph
An African American farmer repays his Farm Security Administration (FSA) loan. The New Deal agency provided guidance and loans to farmers to keep them from joining the ranks of landless migrant workers. The roots of the FSA were in the Federal Emergency Relief Act of FDR's First Hundred Days. October 1936 photo by Arthur Rothstein.
