Andrew Goodman, (1943-1964), volunteered for the 1964 Freedom Summer' project of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) to register blacks to vote in Mississippi. He was one of three CORE volunteers murdered on June 21, 1964 by Ku Klux Klan members assisted by local government officials.
