Angel Bird Of North Moluccas
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
We called it "Angel bird", becouse this bird was first discovered by Alfred Russel Wallace on Bacan Island, North Moluccas, in 1858. Wallace called it a bird of paradise due to the beauty of this bird....It was then written in a report and sent to England. A year later, his report became of the ornitholog study materials in UK.
This bird was then specified within the family of Paradisaeidae, with genus and species names Semioptera wallacii. This name was a appreciation of Wallace, a British naturalist who lived from 1823 - 1913's.
