Description:
This painting is part the style I am developing with my ongoing “Lounge” series, featuring the female figure in repose. My figurative style has always been influenced by Art Nouveau and the work of Lichtenstein, as well as childhood coloring books. I have retained the basic elements of my figurative style in this series: flat planes of color, neutral figures, and sharp contrast, and have added interesting elements to the figure. Two-tone block shading of the flesh creates a sense of depth and contour. The subtle shades of yellow ochre hair add color and life to my previously neutral palette, as do the tones of pink on the lips.
