I'm not quite sure how to begin describing this necklace! It really is a one-of-a-kind and very unique piece!
Remember that parcel of estate jewelry that I purchased from the woman in New York City? Well, nearly all of the 22 beads in this lariat-style necklace were salvaged from that parcel of jewelry. I was told that the jewelry was likely collected and/or made between 1920-1950. So, from this statement, I am estimating that the majority of beads that I crafted into this wonderful necklace were made sometime during that time period, 1920-1950!
This necklace is very long, measuring approximately 44" total! It is meant to be wrapped around the neck twice, then drapped through a loop, forming a lariat-style necklace. However, it can be nicely worn in a number of ways! I really like it when it is worn asymmetrically!!
Venetian wedding cake, blown glass, crackle glass and other Venetian beads adorn this piece. There are old, gold plated, crystal rondelle beads and Venetian blown glass fin beads! I also placed a few old, African brass beads into this piece, beads that I had stashed away in my inventory! I added a few new lavender multi-faceted crystals, as well because of course, I adore crystals!
The entire piece is very unique and original! The final "focal" bead, which loops though the lariat loop & drops down, is a VERY, VERY old, square 20 mm x 20 mm, emerald green Venetian wedding cake bead that likely dates back to 1880! The Aventurina center is still intact on the bead but it has lost some of its sparkly & shiny overlay. Nonetheless, this natural aging patina only adds to the authenticity and uniqueness of the drop bead and the overall piece.
Each bead is spaced with high quality, black glass Czech seed beads.
This is a very unique piece that is meant for a very special lady!
