Aperture flare. Close-up of the bladed aperture of a camera lens, demonstrating the phenomenon of aperture flare. The blades of the aperture ring open and close to control the amount of refracted light that passes through the lens into the camera. However, sometimes light is scattered through the layers of glass and flares onto the light receiver, as seen here.
