As above As Below Why is there always a lone tree in the middle of the farms field. I was told by an elder that the tree represents life. The roots are the past generations offering an enduring foundation and the trunk is the family with the branches and leaves representing all of the living generations. Many say that the tree was planted in the middle of the field to provide shade for the farmers. Others that it marks the halfway point to a plowed field. Of all the comments I like to hang onto the Tree of Life concept, that it represents a family and all of its generations.
