We happened upon this place that had 5 buildings, I think, that have obviously been abandoned and are in ruin. It looks as though it was some kind of mineral spa or mud spa. There were a bunch of individual little tubs as well as a couple of big swimming pools. It was just down the dirt road from those mud pots I showed in some other imagesIt looked as though parts of these buildings and other items actually have been sinking into the ground. Its the same dry-looking but actually soft and mushy ground that was over around those mini volcanoes. I cant imagine who would build something out hereAnd it obviously didnt workSad.

Great capture and what a shame for such a great old building to have to endure. Nice find and excellent work. L/F

. , ╰⊰✿ . . it is interesting reading your description . . I can imagine when these structures were first built they were quite wonderful . . but who would invest so much money and time and energy into building a place that would sink into a mud flat . . amazing really . . love the vignette and textures . it adds so much drama to your lovely image Laurie . I was looking for the location in your tags below and could only find Niland . . so I searched for that and then I searched for Salton Sea . it is a fascinating place . . . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salton_Sea . . . ♥. . ✿⊱╮. ,

Hi Sharon! Yes, the Salton Sea is truly a fascinating place, as are so many of the areas surrounding it, and just down here in the desert, in general! I have found some really cool and unusual places down here! This location here was very near the Salton Sea, but it wasn't right on it. I should do a little more searching myself to see if I can find any information on these buildings. They were literally right up the road from the amazing mini volcanoes I also shot. Yes, it really is a mystery to me as to why anyone would have built out here! And these buildings didn't look too terribly old, either. Thank you so much for your thoughts, comments, and compliments, Sharon!!! I really appreciate them!!! :))))xo
