Description:

As is often the case, this work started with two things in mind – loosening up my art practice and the local landscape that inspires so much of my work. The land here in South Taranaki, New Zealand, is lush and green. South Taranaki has some of the most productive dairy farming land in New Zealand and is some of the most expensive farmland in the country because of that. I guess that’s one reason why I paint it; I am never going to own anything more than my own “quarter acre paradise”. To me, Patea’s surrounding farmland is particularly beautiful, but of course I may be biased!
