Athena was the Greek and Roman god of wisdom, warfare, meaning, purity, and humanity. She was also the defender of heroes in battle, and the chief of the three virgin goddesses of Mt. Olympus.Athena is also referred to as Athene, Maiden, to her Roman name, Minerva, and to Parthanos.
In Greek and Roman mythology, Glaucus is the symbolic owl of Athena or Minerva, respectively. Often referred to as the "owl of Athena" or "owl of Minerva", it accompanies Minerva in Roman myths, seen as a symbol of wisdom because the owl is capable of seeing even in the dark and of vigilance because the owl is awake at night.
It is also said that the goddess took the form of the owl when she traveled on the Earth.
