Aurora Borealis Near Vancouver
There was a beautiful display from the Aurora last night which I captured from Porteau Cove Provincial Park, between Vancouver and Whistler in British Columbia, Canada.
Throughout most of the night there was a low but steady level of activity on the horizon, but there were two spikes in activity which caused the sky to light up for a few minutes at a time, and caused the photographers watching to start cheering at the amazing sight!
I took this 5-shot panorama during the second of these spikes, capturing the green glow on the horizon and the blues and purples above. In the foreground is one of the viewing platforms at this park, located on the Howe Sound, and at the base of the hills to the right you can see traffic driving along the Sea to Sky Highway, which runs from Vancouver to Whistler.
