Description
This scene was inspired an autumn bicycle ride on the Foothills Trail in Pierce County, Washington State. It is a delightful 15 mile route that starts on the outskirts of the town of Puyallup and runs through the Orting Valley to the town of South Prairie at the foot of Mount Rainier. It is paved the entire way and follows an old railroad line. It is open to walkers, riders, and horses, but no motorized vehicles. In the fall when the colors begin to show and the air is crisp, it is an absolutely gorgeous place to be. The original painting was created with oil paints on a 24x30 inch canvas.
In celebration of the fall season, the view also inspired this short little haiku:
Autumn's golden view
Warm and sunny, sweet and short
Winter comes soon now
