Autumn Lane - Royden Park - Wirral
Painting - Watercolor On Hahnemuhle Rough Paper 450gsm
Royden Park is a favorite walk in this part of the Wirral Peninsula. Composed from my own reference photographs, I tried to capture the 'Autumn glow' before the leaves had fallen.
The lady who bought my painting stated that she loved Royden Park as her Father was one of many children who were evacuated there during WW2. Sir Ernest Royden was a ship builder who gave up much of his house in Royden Park to orphans of seamen to escape the bombing of Liverpool in 1940.
I seemed to have completed a full circle in that, as a small boy, I was evacuated from London to escape the bombing in 1940!
