The traditional "Vanity" still life showing a scull among the flowers is represented here inside a real florist's shop in Jerusalem, in Ramban (Rabbi Moshe ben Nachman) street in Rechavia neighbourhood. The"documental" part of the picture is shown here in black & white negative. The flowers' style is typical for the classical Flemish and Dutch still lifes. One can see the shop owner un front of his door, and the grinning scull among the lively flowers. This acrylic painting tryes to trace the link between the real and the surreal, between colorless and colorful, between contemporary and old, between cultivated and wild, between daydream and nightmare. The connection between this and another world is so close though nearly unapproachable...
