Description
This shot of a particularly brightly colour frog was taken in the swamps of the Barataria Nature Preserve, and 20 miles south of New Orleans in the Jean Lafitte National Park. I have visited the preserve many times and at many different times of the year. There is a 2 mile long boardwalk that takes you through a progressively more swampy area until you hit the Kenta Canal. My memories of making this work center of keeping me eyes peeled looking left and right along the boardwalk just incase there was something interesting lurking in the reeds or undergrowth, like an alligator, snake, or turtle. This frog was one such find, hiding just directly infront of one of the timber boardwalks. The wildlife in the nature preserve did have the decency of stopping and posing for the camera. Even the snakes and alligators. This shot was taken early in 2010 using a Nikon D300.
