Description:

Shot in Jinhae, South Korea, January 2012. The weather was freezing (about -4 celsius) and I was still laden with bronchitis, so I'm not sure how smart it was to be out taking pictures, but when I saw this, I had to have a go at it. Scenes like this (i.e., slaughtered animals hanging in strange places) are a somewhat common occurrence here, but this was such a great combo, with the barbed wire, the cheap plastic ribbon, and knowing my TSE-90 on a full frame was gonna send that background screaming off into the hinterlands.

Shot on a Canon EOS 5D MkII, with my recently acquired Canon TSE-90 f/2.8 tilt + shift lens. Lens rotated so tilt was horizontal, tilted right to run focal plane along barbed wire fence, and separate background. Shot wide open at f/2.8, ISO 100, 1/160 sec.

Title of the shot is a cheap ripoff of the title from The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Barbed Wire Kisses" album, an old favourite of mine.
