Description
The magnolia is a special bloom to me. When I was a child, my grandparents had a huge magnolia tree in their front yard. As kids, our favorite thing to do at PawPaw and Ganma's house was to climb that old tree. It had enormous branches jutting out, close enough to each other that even a small child could easily climb to a substantial height. My cousin and I could climb higher than my little sister and he could continue to ascend far beyond the point where I had to stop. Everyday we would try to get higher than the day before. One day my cousin fell out of that old tree. Fortunatley there were many branches to break his fall on the way down and there weren't any serious injuries. I still remember the dissappointment I felt the day we drove by my grandparents old house after they had passed, only to learn that our wonderful tree had been cut down and was no more . This magnolia bloom was captured at the Children's Garden at the Huntington Library in Pasadena, California.
