I've got others posted in my gallery almost as big - definitely the culprit.

LOL! I know. I'm kinda funny that way - gotta see what I wanna see! I showed my husband (and a neighbor) this photo in lieu of the fact that they didn't believe me when I told them the Heron that's been hanging around our Koi pond is the culprit that has been grabbing our Koi! They were stunned!

Now that's close enough, Alethea! I seldom look at 200%. Thank you very much for looking!

YES! I zoomed in 500%, then did a full resolution close up - AND THERE IT WAS! (The fishes reflection in his eye)

Fantastic shot Robert!!! I love the way they flip the fish around so it can go down.
Robert Frederick replied:
When they are this big, I've seen them put them on the ground hold their head up with the beak, then use the ground to help push it down their gullet. Its an awsome thing to watch. Thanks Deborah!

I am so amazed that they eat such big fish. Do they eat them whole?
Robert Frederick replied:
Well, he tried cutting them in half to share, but when he uses a knife he loses his balance ;oP But in all sincerity, they do swallow them head first so the fins fold back. Catfish have barbs that do no fold back so easy so somewhere they have learned to let them be practically dead first.

Robert, amazing work...I totally agree with your recommended eating method...nothing says good fish eatin' like hush puppies...
Robert Frederick replied:
Wish I'd gotten his recipe, but I didn't have time to ask as I left for lunch...

This is crazy! Did it actually eat it?! Amazing -
Robert Frederick replied:
He dipped it in a corn meal batter and deep-fried it with some hushpuppies and onion rings. In truth, he waded to the shore and beat on it and waited for it to suffocate - then he swallowed it. They'd rather eat other fish that takes less energy, but the payoff was too big to pass on here.
