Thank you Connie. Somehow I always notice the simpler the painting the better the outcome

Beautiful! Going to pin this on my Watercolor Paintings board, Mohamed!

Hi Michael, If you cannot find the birches in Michigan, by all means you are welcome to Canada, Alberta in particular. With the temperatures at -20 degrees Celsius ( -4 F) you will see several scenes like these. You are correct, on a dull grey day, as the clouds are lifting and the blue sky is peering through, you get beautiful blue shadows.

This is very nice, I have no Birches in my area. I need to get up into Michigan and photograph some! I like the blue in the shaded snow. It's is amazing how blue the light can be in certain situations.

Thank you Joan and Hartmut, I better paint snow well, in Edmonton I have to live surrounded by the white stuff for almost six months out of the year. Scenes like this are therefore very common:)

Exquisite watercolor, set in a perfectly balanced composition. I can feel the winterchill.

Wonderful in it's simplicity!

Simply wonderful!!!! FV
