Description:

Based on Hammett's book, The Maltese Falcon, is an oil on canvas painting depicting his character, Wonderly with a falcon. She and the bird seem to flow together into one. Her character cloaked in innocense becomes the killer seeking the maltese falcon. She killed out of desire, while the falcon kills out of need. This painting was shown during the Big Read, 2012, at the Art Center in Darien, GA.

The art nouveau style combines color and textural shapes to intertwine the two figures. The original is framed in contemporary black adding drama to the painting.
