Description
This black swan shares its pond with many beautiful koi. It also has a mate.
Black swans are a member of the swan family and originated in Australia. They are large water-loving birds with black plumage, some white feathers and large red bills.
They are monogamous and share incubation and duties of raising their young. When disturbed while breeding, they issue a loud whistle of warning. Otherwise, their sounds are like musical calls.
Males are called Cobs and are larger than the Pens, which are the females. Left on their own, black swans are highly nomadic, thought they follow no migratory plan or pattern.
