Blind Man And His House
Photograph - Photography
This is Huseyin, a blind man who spends his days sitting by the door of his house where he has lived for most of his life. He says he usually sits there for a good amount of time everyday listening to the sounds of the city from that old and narrow street where his house is located at. The leaves of the plants and trees are all over his property and I asked him how he managed to get so many of them grow so much. He said the city wanted to demolish his house to open way for a road construction about 25 years ago. But according to the laws of the time, parks and gardens were protected from destruction by law. So he immediately planted as many trees and plants as he could before the city officials could attempt to take his house from him. They grew big in a short time and covered all his house including the roof, walls and around windows leaving his property within the confinements of his park/garden, therefore, making it illegal to demolish his house. It was quite an interesting sight. The leaves looked as if they were holding onto the house tightly to prevent it from going away. Sadly, he will never be able to see the trees and leaves that saved him and his house, nevertheless, he was very grateful to nature for saving him when he most needed it.
The photo was taken on Kodak TriX 400 and developed in Kodak d76 in 1:1 solution for 9:45 minutes.
