Painting - Acrylics On Canvas
This painting of a hedgehog cactus and a young saguaro cactus with the bright blue sky found in Arizona was painted by the artist after one of her first experiences of the beautiful blooming cacti in the Sonoran Desert. She had not realized she would find so many colors in the desert. . . . . .When the artist moved from her home state of Oregon in 2008, she expected to miss the wonderful colors found in the vegetation, mountains, hills, and the floors of the Willamette valley that were her stomping grounds for many years. She was pleasantly surprised to fall in love with the colors found in the Sonoran Desert. Right in her own backyard and neighborhood, everywhere she visits throughout the day, she is greeted with the colors found in her new desert world. . . . . The hedgehog cactus almost seem to pop up out of nowhere with their bright blooms, and remind the artist of how the crocuses do so in Oregon during the early spring. It is said that for each arm that a saguaro has it represents approximately 25 years of life; some of these cacti must have some interesting stories to tell.
