Blue On Blue
Photograph - Photograph
A male Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) poses in profile on a native pecan tree branch on our property in central Texas. Bluebirds appear to have a predilection for pecan trees in our area, and can be fairly reliably found in several pecan groves locally. They perch on the trees and search for prey on the ground, then individually drop to the ground to eat for a few seconds before returning to another perch. Their bright blue and orange colors and their cheery songs certainly make them the "buebirds of happiness."
Gary Holmes, photographer: I am an opportunist photographer of nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer to capture the spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring, and rarely photograph staged subjects other than portraits. Although I have been a photographer for decades, I continue to study and learn the craft. Long ago, I embraced the hugely expanded opportunities offered by digital photography, but I have only been posting them online since September 2012. As a result, I have now successfully sold several of my works. I will continue to post my very best works on FAA and other sites every day or two, as time permits. Please revisit my sites periodically. I welcome your votes, support and gently constructive criticism or suggestions, all of which help guide me in my photographic journey.
