Description:

My son and I drove up to Grassy Bald, just north of Asheville, North Carolina. For some reason (which nobody knows for sure) the trees do not grow on this mountain top. So you can walk out into a field of grass and wild flowers on "top of the world" and look out over the receding ridge lines of the blue ridge. On this afternoon, just after we arrived, the clouds and rain began to blow in from the north.
