Mmm I could tell you but then.......!! The spring textures are great, really lovely, I like cirrus clouds the best! i have the summer set too I started off with those, not got the edges though! I think you have to pick the subject first, some subjects lend themselves to textures. Sometimes I do overexpose it on purpose to achieve a lighter feel. But the main thing is I see what the picture looks like before I take it a lot of the time, and the flypapers just aid me in creating this! Sorry its not more complicated than that!! A lot of the time I use three, four or more textures to create the effect. I always start with the same ones, moth wing from spring, iorek ice and irisdescent brush frm summer are faves. I thought I was doing what everybody else does but gave a friend summer ones to try and she showed me what she had done and it was nothing like mine! Its like cooking, theres a recipe but everybody does there own thing!!

What you say rings pretty true for me too. Sometimes you think a particular picture is goning to work great on a certain texture, and it just doesn't take at all. I find i tend to hone in on a couple of texture and use them repeatedly. Cirrus clouds, pantheon and creme anglaise seem to be the ones i hit on most. I like the sense of never quit knowing what's going to emerge until you do it. I live on a coastal area with lots of beaches and cliffs and i find pictures with lots of sky and/or beach seem to work well.

This is lovely ;) what textures are you using? i use flypaper textures for my stilllifes and landscapes ;)
Marion Galt replied:
Hi Nicola - This particular picture feature flypaper edges textures; I also like using the flypaper spring textures. Am trying to create my own at the moment - not with any huge degree of success, it has to be said! PS: absolutely love the post processing you use - especially those dreamy beach and seascapes. How do you achieve that light, dreamy feel?
