Description:

Branches was designed with the challenge theme "Branching Out� in mind. I designed the quilt with to-scale and color-coded drawings, then individually cut and assembled each unit and block. Techniques included machine piecing, self-programmed pictorial embroidery, and both free-form and long-arm thread painting. Materials used were commercial cotton fabrics and batiks, and specialty threads (variegated, metallic, holoshimmer, cotton, rayon, and invisible). The fabrics were collected over a period of about two years with an �autumn leaves" theme in mind. The �Branching Out� challenge provided the perfect inspiration for designing and completing the quilt.�
