Description
Combine winter and a mostly cloudy day and you get a very eerie feeling as you glance up at Bratislava Castle, in Bratislava Slovakia. It looks more like the setting for a Hitchcock film than for a royal residence! The massive rectangular building with four corner towers stands on an isolated rocky hill of the Little Carpathians directly above the Danube river in the middle of Bratislava. Because of its size and location, it has been a dominant feature of the city for centuries, with the first written record dating back to 907 CE. Between 1387-1437, it underwent a radical Gothic reconstruction. After 1526, it because the seat of Hungarian monarchs. Under the reign of Maria Teresa (1740-1780) the castle was transformed into a luxurious Baroque residence. In 1811 it was burned down and stood in ruins until 1953 when restorations began.

Oooohhh, fabulous capture! In b&w, with the bare trees, and with your dramatic processing, this castle looks haunted! A beautiful-spooky image!
