Sculpture - Bronze
This is an individual bronze relief from Snowy Range Life. The original bronze is only 4.75 x 3.50 inches. Since early childhood artist Dawn Senior-Trask has loved to explore the draw near her family's log home, where a little creek flows, fed by mountain snowmelt and a series of springs. Small waterfalls babble over mossy granite outcrops, and in the deeper pools beneath, the colorful brook trout dwell. They feed on the many larvae of caddisflies, stoneflies, mayflies, dragonflies, and other water creatures. In turn, the brook trout make great eating for the great blue heron, osprey, and the occasional human. Dawn, though, has only caught brook trout in order to save them when they became stranded in one of the last shrinking pools when a drought nearly dried up the creek. She caught the trout, who were struggling for breath, in her hands and transferred them in a bucket of water to a deeper, spring-fed pool. She released them and watched happily as their gills filled with oxygen and they wriggled into feeding position, heads upstream.
