A couple weeks ago I spent the weekend in Salida, CO with some friends, which now ranks up there as one of my favorite towns in Colorado. The weather was even more impetuous than normal all weekend long and had me fooled more than a couple times. This evening in particular I had given up on any chance of catching a sunset as the cloud cover 15 minutes before this moment (and the previous hour for that matter) was completely socked in.
As I was sipping on my second G&T of the evening, I caught the clouds breaking up out the window and knew there was only one thing to do. Gulp down my G&T and head off into the front yard to salvage what I could. Fortunately, the landscape in this part of the world is mostly sage brush and with all the rain lately, there were enough flowers to almost keep things interesting.
