Painting - Oil On Canvas
This is a plein air painting painted at Buck Lake Oregon on July 22nd 2012. I hiked out and set up on a large rock that overlooked the lake. The first day I painted with the canvas flat on the rock. It was a beautiful day accompanied by swimming and hiking and cooking food on the fire. The second day I painted on an easel in the wind. It was cold and the wind continued to knock the painting over the side of the rock I worked on and directly into me. After packing up and hiking the gear and painting back to camp we cooked food. We then packed up our camping gear and hiked the mile back to the van. On our drive back into town I was pulled over for crossing the double yellow line. The officer impounded my van because I couldn't provide proof of insurance. My license and new license plate tags were not proof enough. This painting would end up costing me over $400 to make. I sold it to a good friend for much less.
