Description:

This figure is partially thrown and hand-built. The face is altered from a mold. The story goes that Siddhartha Guatama, sitting under the Bodhi tree, looked up early one morning and saw a star. Just then he attained enlightenment -- boom -- he and all things became one! This Buddha sculpture evokes that sense of oneness under the Bodhi tree. The leaves are part of the tree branch and also part of his skin. Is he sitting under the tree or is the tree holding him up? I don't know, do you?
