Description
A bottle-brush of fragrant flowers in delicate white, each flower studded with feathery stamens. Actaea simplex is a fabulous herbaceous perennial, with the common name of "bugbane" since it was once used to repel bedbugs. Bugbane was formerly called Cimifuga until bugbane was recently reclassified as Actaea using DNA evidence. The delicate white flowers are best displayed against a black background.
