Description
A new red poppy flower bursting out of its pod with a spent poppy having left its seed pod behind. These flowers are beautiful at any stage.
Poppies are often grown for their colors for decorating and art. The flowers die shortly after blooming. They can be almost any color from white, red, orange, gold, yellow, and more. Poppies are in full bloom in late spring and early summer. The pollen of the poppy is dark blue.
Some types produce edible seeds, and are also the source of powerful medicinal alkaloids such as morphine and has been used since ancient times.
Poppies have also become a symbol of wartime and those who have died.
