Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
I have always admired Frank Stellas early ‘Minamalist’ 1960’s paintings, where he echoes the shape of a canvas simply by painting its contours. This painting explores the idea of repeating the silk shirts contours and colours, whilst also suggesting air currents and washing on a line drying in the breeze. The races are defined in ‘jaunty’ horizontal rows of florescent green shirt outlines. The first race meeting of five runners is at the top, I had two winners on this particular Saturday using a Fibonacci staking method in the first and fifth races.
I used to live right next to a stables and became fascinated with Horse Racing - I love to go racing, especially to my local courses Goodwood, Salisbury and my home town Chester. This painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a written explanation and can be bought as a commemorative gift, or to celebrate an event. The painting is on a box canvas and has its sides painted so it is ready to hang without a frame, and can be displayed anywhere: Foyers, restaurants, galleries, shops, workshops, sports venues or in the home
