Description:
This painting has been sold, however prints are available.
I painted this on the site of the cabin built by Henry David Thoreau at Walden Pond, near Concord, Massachusetts. Today the location is marked by a heap of stones deposited by visitors however model of the cabin exists on the other side of the park and in my mind I transported it to its original location. I even added smoke from the chimney. The Transcendentalist Philosopher left us many famous quotations and this one is particularly appropriate for a man who chose to live in this tiny wood cabin.
The painting was done in the spring when bright yellow-green leaves were begining to appear while the ground was still covered in leaves from the previous fall.
