Description

I have been trying to come up with a better reply to the conversation last week about drawing vs photographic image representation.

I take my camera everywhere with me. I take snaps from my daily life. Painting in my head while I rest at a stoplight or muse in the shower. My camera is my brush. My computer is my canvas.

I brought together the images that stuck in my head. Plucked during walks, drunken times, moments of ordinary beauty, or just when I would inexpediently find my camera at the bottom of my purse. Some photos of birthdays and special sights, some of everyday, the laundry and my Monday.

I break a lot of my folk law rules to image-make without drawing, I feel like a fraud. So the images I made started to reflect my want for handmade. In this one I wanted to remember ink drawings, and not quite right perspective.

In this last one, I try to match the gossiping that the first half of the argument had and it is here that I feel this technique falls down. The gesture and interpretation of line drawing is so much better at depicting people and emotion than this kind of image making.
