California Dreamin' on Route 66 in the big Pink Caddilac with Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Jane Mansfield and James Dean.
Route 66 has often been called America's Road through the heartland. For years it was the main highway from east to west if you where going to California. The road hosted countless of motor inns, fast food stops and family attractions to let the kids blow off pent up steam on these long journeys. Today it still features some of these nostalgic icons, now mostly museum like windows looking into the past.
The 1950's, a time of opulence, work was available everywhere, gas was cheap and driving cars like a pink Cadillacs was the dream we all aspired to, Elvis was king and Rock n Roll the standard entertainment which now is all but a dream, so my title seems as relevant now as it did then.
