Description:

Nothing appeals to a California artist as much as the fields of poppies that inflame the hillsides in spring. A favorite subject of the early California Impressionists, these yellow-orange blooms are the state flower. This painting is not a specific place, but a composite of several photo-sketches I had in my files. Whether done in the studio or on location, these are always an inspiration to paint." -- SFG .
