Description
It's not a church; it's the California Building is one of the original buildings from the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in Balboa Park in San Diego CA. When it was first opened you could walk to the top. For reasons that are unknown to us now the tower was closed after a second exposition in 1935. But as of January 1, 2015, just in time for the centennial of the 1915 Exposition in Balboa Park, you'll be able to go up the tower. I visited here in April 2014 but this will be one of the first things on my 'to do' list next time I visit San Diego. At the top is a gorgeous 360-degree view of San Diego County. To the west are Point Loma and the Pacific Ocean. To the south, you can see the Coronado Bridge, downtown San Diego and even Mexico on a clear day. How can you not want to do this!
