I do not understand the comment you made about it being expensive to paint with a computer verses an ipad. I have the comp. and the adobe program. What more would there be except the know how?

Angela A Stanton replied:

To paint in such a way that it looks like a real oil or acrylic with textures, first you would need to purchase Artrage, a software that allows for amazing textures (this painting, in the middle, if you look at the pollen flying, those heavy textures are all from Artrage). Also, from the technical aspect of the "brush" feeling on computer, you need to use a Wacom tablet with a pressure sensitive pen. I have an extra large table Wacom Intuos 4 and with that every stroke I make adjusts to my pressure and the direction of my stroke. It also "runs out of paint" like brushes do with real oil. But you don't get that effect with a mouse and without the proper software. I also use Corel X3 and now they too have nice textures. In Photoshop you need to use layers very cleverly to get textures and it is not easy to do that at all. The Wacom tablet is not exactly cheap... mine being extra large was over $700 plus all the software... so you have about a $1000 investment and then you don't yet know how to use the set so the learning curve it there too. Hope this helps. By contrast, with the iPad, all you need is the iPad and the apps are really cheap-- $0.99 to $15.00 so quite affordable. :)

I want to learn this digital painting so bad. Beautiful.

Angela A Stanton replied:

Thanks Selma! Try it with the video I sent you the link to you. It is just practice. This is a computer digital and not iPad. You need some very expensive equipment for this--unlike for the iPad. :)
