As I descended into the core of the Capulon volcano on a clear but frosty morning, I almost ran into this doe as I was focused on the trail and was not really anticipating any wildlife down inside the volcano. Fortunately I brought my 200 mm lens equipped with a 1.4x tele extender anyway as she escaped up the side before we both got over the shock of our chance encounter.
